One of the nicest days I spent last summer involved no cost and not even a little sweating. My kind of day.
My daughter and I drove to Chestnut Ridge Park, a local county park I hadn’t set foot on since my early 20s. I wasn’t sure if it would be as nice as I remember, but it turned out to be better. The park, opened around 80 years ago, has been well maintained and cared for. We even stumbled across a frisbee golf course near the old lodge. We spent much of our time just sitting or walking quietly, not saying much. It was a warm sunny day, and people nearby ate, played, and hiked.
I took this photo near the toboggan run, which was recently restored. My daughter returned in the winter and was able to try tobogganing for the very first time!
This has become one of my favorite photos of my #3 child.
